Marcus Rashford, a football player for Manchester United and England, made the “In-the-Box” to raise money for three homeless groups in Manchester: Barnabus, Centerpoint, and Lifeshare.
People all over the world are being asked to fill a shoebox with Christmas gifts for people who need them the most. Along with Selfridges Manchester Exchange (1, Exchange Square Central, Corporation St, Manchester, M3 1BD), the box drop will help support the campaign. It will be on the first floor of the menswear department and will be staffed from 12:00 to 18:00, Monday through Sunday.
“With the help of my family, I put together and gave away a bunch of gift boxes for people in need in Manchester last year.” Because I had just been to one of the most satisfying events of the year, I was determined that this time’s activities would reach more people. For Christmas 2023, I’m thrilled to have Selfridges Manchester Exchange on board as a partner to help me reach my goal.
I love my town so much and am thankful for all the help it has given me over the years. This is my chance to help people who might not have the best Christmas otherwise.
I hope that a lot of other people want to join in too, so that we can all make a big difference.
Robin Toal, a trustee for Lifeshare, said, “We’re thrilled that Marcus Rashford has chosen to support an attacking trident of @LifeshareUK, @centrepointuk, and @BarnabusMcr with his exciting “In-the-box” campaign.” His help will really help people who are homeless or poor this Christmas.
